In this guide, we will explain how to install LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T707D / SC-03G.
The installation process starts by flashing the required Android 5 firmware SC03GOMU1BPJ1 using Odin. After that, we will install TWRP 3.4.0-2-klimtdcm, wipe the required partitions, install the LineageOS 17.1 custom ROM, and finally install compatible Google Apps.
This guide is intended for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T707D / SC-03G variant. Always verify your exact model and device codename before flashing any firmware, recovery or custom ROM. Incorrect files can cause boot problems or data loss. Always create a backup of important data before starting.

Step 1: Flash Android 5 Firmware SC03GOMU1BPJ1
1. Boot the Tablet into Download Mode
Turn off the tablet completely.
Press and hold:
Volume Down + Home + Power
When the warning screen appears, press Volume Up to enter Download/Odin Mode.
2. Open Odin
Run the Odin3 tool on your Windows PC and connect the tablet using a good-quality USB cable.
If the Samsung USB drivers are installed correctly, Odin should detect the tablet and show a COM port.
3. Load the Android 5 Firmware
Use the firmware package containing the build:
Load the firmware files into their appropriate Odin slots such as BL, AP, CP and CSC, according to the files included in your firmware package.
If the firmware package contains both CSC and HOME_CSC, HOME_CSC is generally used when you want to preserve user data, while CSC normally performs a clean installation and can erase data. Always keep a backup before flashing.
After selecting the correct files, click Start and wait until the flashing process is completed.
When Odin shows PASS!, the tablet should reboot.
Step 2: Boot Android 5 and Turn the Tablet Off
Allow the tablet to boot completely into the Android 5 system after the firmware installation.
Once Android has started successfully, turn the tablet completely off.
We can now proceed with installing TWRP Custom Recovery.
Step 3: Flash TWRP 3.4.0-2-klimtdcm
1. Enter Download Mode Again
With the tablet powered off, boot it into Download Mode again using:
Volume Down + Home + Power
Then press Volume Up on the warning screen.
2. Flash TWRP Using Odin
Connect the tablet to the PC and open Odin.
Click the AP button and select:
Click Start and wait until Odin shows PASS!.
After flashing TWRP, do not allow the tablet to boot normally into the stock Android system before entering TWRP Recovery. Immediately boot into TWRP Recovery after the TWRP flash. Otherwise, depending on the device configuration, the stock recovery may replace the custom recovery.
Step 4: Boot Directly into TWRP Recovery
After TWRP has been flashed, boot directly into Recovery Mode using:
Volume Up + Home + Power
Keep the buttons pressed until the TWRP Recovery screen appears.
Step 5: Wipe the Required Partitions
Wiping partitions can remove the existing Android system and user data. Make sure important files are backed up before continuing.
From the TWRP main menu, go to:
Wipe → Advanced Wipe
For a clean custom ROM installation, select the required partitions:
- Dalvik / ART Cache
- Cache
- System
- Data
Then use Swipe to Wipe.
If your LineageOS and GApps ZIP files are stored in internal storage, do not wipe Internal Storage. Keep the installation files on a MicroSD card or another accessible storage location.
Step 6: Install LineageOS 17.1 Custom ROM
Return to the TWRP main menu and select:
Install
Browse to the location where the LineageOS ZIP file is stored.
Select:
Swipe to confirm the installation.
Wait until the ROM installation process finishes completely.
Step 7: Reboot the Tablet
After the LineageOS installation is completed, select:
Reboot → System
The first boot can take considerably longer than a normal boot. Do not immediately restart the tablet if the first boot takes several minutes.
Step 8: Boot Back into TWRP Recovery
If you are following the installation procedure where GApps are flashed separately, boot back into TWRP Recovery before installing Google Apps.
Turn the tablet off and boot into Recovery Mode using:
Volume Up + Home + Power
TWRP Recovery should appear.
Step 9: Install Google Apps (GApps)
LineageOS does not necessarily include Google's proprietary applications and services. To get Google Play Store and other Google services, install a compatible OpenGApps package.
Architecture: ARM
Android Version: 10.0
Device: SM-T707D / SC-03G

From TWRP:
Install → Select GApps ZIP → Swipe to Confirm Flash
Wait until the Google Apps installation finishes.
After the installation is complete, select:
Reboot → System
First Boot After Installing LineageOS 17.1

Common Installation Problems
Odin Does Not Detect the Tablet
Install or reinstall the Samsung USB drivers, try another USB port, and use a reliable USB data cable. Avoid USB hubs if possible.
LineageOS Installation Shows Error 7
Verify that the ROM matches the correct device codename: klimtdcm. Also verify that the required firmware and compatible recovery are being used.
TWRP Shows "Failed to Mount /System"
If TWRP reports partition mounting errors such as Failed to mount /system or Failed to mount /cache, do not repeatedly flash the ROM. First verify the recovery version, partition layout and required firmware.
GApps Installation Fails
Make sure the GApps package matches the ROM's Android version and CPU architecture. For this Android 10 installation, use a compatible ARM Android 10 package.
