Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 3G SM-T231 - Custom ROM Install Guide
Want to breathe new life into your Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 3G (SM-T231)? Installing a custom ROM is the best way to enhance performance, update Android version, and unlock new features. This guide walks you through the steps to flash TWRP Recovery using Odin and install a custom ROM.
Prerequisites:
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 3G SM-T231
- Windows PC with Samsung USB drivers installed
- USB Cable
- Battery charged above 50%
- Enable Developer Options > USB Debugging
How to Flash TWRP Recovery Using Odin
- Download Odin Tool from the link in the Download section below.
- Download the TWRP recovery image for SM-T231 (see Download section).
- Extract Odin and run Odin.exe.
- Power off your device and boot into Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power buttons simultaneously. Press Volume Up to continue.
- Connect your device to the PC via USB. Odin will show “Added!”.
- In Odin, click on AP and select the downloaded
.img.tar
TWRP file. - Ensure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked.
- Click on Start. Once flashing is done, your device will reboot.
Important: After flashing TWRP, boot into recovery immediately (Volume Up + Home + Power) to prevent stock recovery from replacing it.
How to Install Custom ROM Using TWRP
- Boot into TWRP recovery (Power + Home + Volume Up).
- Select Wipe > Advanced Wipe and wipe Dalvik, Cache, System, Data.
- Go back and choose Install.
- Locate and select the ROM zip file you downloaded.
- Swipe to confirm flash.
- Once done, reboot your device.
Optional: Flash GApps (Google Apps) if your ROM does not include it.
